Alexander Roy
Alexander Roy serves as the Kaua’i National Wildlife Refuge Complex Transportation Scholar for the 2016-2017 Public Lands Transportation Scholar Program. For the past two years Alex worked as a transportation consultant in Salt Lake City, working on some of the most visible projects in Utah. He graduated from the University of Utah with a Masters of City and Metropolitan Planning. Prior to graduation, Alex worked as a Ski Technician at Alta Ski Resort which helped him understand the important balance between providing access and preserving the natural landscape in a popular tourist destination. As the Kaua’i National Wildlife Refuge Complex Transportation Scholar, he is inspired to develop transportation recommendations that strike a balance between innovative and implementable, and that allow visitors to experience the beauty of Kaua’i.
Dan Brooks
Dan Brooks is serving as the 2016-2017 Public Lands Transportation Scholar at the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge. Dan studied anthropology and philosophy at the University of Rochester before earning a Master of City and Regional Planning at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University. During graduate school, Dan gained valuable experience in multi-modal transportation planning and research that he is eager to put to use on the Refuge. An avid outdoor enthusiast and urban cyclist, Dan is excited to return to Philadelphia to help improve equitable transportation access in a city he loves. In addition to the outdoors and being on a bike, Dan loves corny jokes, being active, and sweeping vistas.
Jacob Connor
Jacob Connor serves as the 2016-2017 “Advanced” Public Lands Transportation Scholar with the US Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) Headquarters Office in Arlington, VA. Previously, Jacob served as a transportation scholar for the San Diego National Wildlife Complex in 2014-2015. Jacob is a recent graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Master’s in urban planning and policy. He also has a Bachelor of Science in economics from Northeastern University. The scholars program marries Jacob’s passion for preserving the natural environment with my career aspirations in alternative transportation. As a current bicycle and transit commuter, he hopes to help people transition into cleaner, healthier alternative modes of transportation.
