BTSCRP BTS-15 Highway Safety Behavioral Strategies for Rural Areas

Project #: 4W8518
Start Date: 06/24/2020
End Date: 02/24/2022
Status: Completed
ABSTRACT:

The objective of this project is to develop a behavioral traffic safety countermeasure toolkit for highway safety partners involved with rural road safety (e.g., tribal authorities, local government, law enforcement, emergency responders, engineers) to reduce the frequency and severity of motor vehicle crashes on roads in rural areas. The countermeasure toolkit will be accessible and practical for use by partners with varying levels of traffic safety expertise. The preliminary phase of research will focus on defining rural, data analysis, identifying additional countermeasures, and documenting case studies. The second phase will focus on creation of the countermeasure toolkit and resources for training partners on its use.
