This Federal Highway Administration support contract provides program support to the Rural Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) program, and to define and develop the rural intelligent transportation systems through systems engineering, integration, analysis, and deployment and planning guidance. The two primary targets of the Rural Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) program for the next five years are: 1) defining and developing rural intelligent transportation systems in terms of a multimodal architecture that is consistent with the National ITS program, and 2) developing guidance documents and training materials to ease planning, programming, and implementation of this architecture.
