Project #: 4W8839
Start Date: 09/03/2020
End Date: 09/02/2022
Status: Current

With the fatalities of almost 37,000 a year, many transportation agencies are shifting their paradigms to improve the safety of the transportation systems for all road users. Enhancing transportation safety culture is a vital component of this shift and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is looking for ways to communicate the importance of embracing safety and prioritizing safety over other transportation needs.

Battelle (lead) and WTI (sub) are teaming to provide support for FHWA safety culture activities. The activities shall be performed on an as-needed basis. The activities shall include:

  • Developing safety culture awareness and marketing materials
  • Documenting personal safety stories and notable safety practices
  • Preparing talking points and scripts for FHWA leadership and staff
  • Coordinating and facilitating internal and external safety culture campaigns

The purpose of this project is to provide marketing, communications, and outreach support to FHWA for its safety culture activities.
