Interstate 5 between Redding and Dunsmuir, the area known as the Sacramento River Canyon, was selected as the demonstration site for the dynamic curve warning system because of its high traffic volumes, mountainous terrain and the number of crashes specifically related to heavy trucks.
To evaluate five different dynamic curve warning systems that were installed for advance notification to motorists of alignment changes and speed advisories in the Sacramento River Canyon.
