During the project period, the project team will meet regularly with core local and regional stakeholders. Through these meetings, the team will also provide capacity building as needed on related topics, such as information and/or training around developing projects, working regionally to plan for and prioritize needs, seeking funding for projects, and other information about preparing for project implementation. If desired, locally tailored presentations from national experts related to downtown redevelopment and transportation access and/or interactions with peer communities will be included in project activities. These interactions can build a base of experience for local officials and stakeholders as they continue to pursue these efforts beyond the performance period of this project.
The research team will also collect and analyze local data in order to provide recommendations on potential projects and funding recommendations that would advance efforts to remediate any critical needs.
The research team will support the Three Rivers Planning & Development District as they redevelop downtown Okolona and active transportation (including supporting infrastructure and ADA considerations), and plan for future transportation improvements that increase access to economic and social services.
