Steve Albert has been addressing transportation challenges for over 35 years in both the largest metropolitan centers and our nation’s most rural settings. His pioneering rural research has allowed for a unique perspective of America’s transportation needs. Steve has been involved in addressing rural and urban transportation and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) research and development in more than 35 states. Steve has received lifetime achievement awards from the Institute for Transportation Engineers (ITE) for his efforts in on rural transportation issues and ITS and from the Council on University Transportation Centers. He also serves on a variety of committees and organizations including USDOT ITS Advisory Committee and the ITSA Rural ITS Committee (Chair). Steve is also the Director of the FHWA National Center for Rural Road Safety, and the West Region Workforce Development Center of Excellence.
