Greater Yellowstone Rural Intelligent Transportation Systems Corridor, Phase I
Started: March, 1998 Ended: September, 2002 Project ID #429745 Status: Completed
Objective
Develop a regional rural ITS demonstration corridor by establishing institutional coordination, developing a deployment plan, and deploying an early winner project.
Abstract
The Greater Yellowstone Rural Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Priority Corridor (Corridor) extends from Bozeman, Montana to Idaho Falls, Idaho. The combination of varied, often less-than desirable driving conditions coupled with abundant off-road, commercial and recreational traffic, indicates an immediate and ever growing need for increased traffic safety and information measures. Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) is the strongest solution available and appears to be appropriate for the Greater Yellowstone Rural ITS Priority Corridor.
