Public Lands Transportation Fellows Projects 2022-2023

USFWS Northeast Region Office and Parker River NWR – Ella Weber, Feb. 2022-Sept. 2022

In this advanced fellowship placement, Ella will assist the USFWS Northeast Region Office with transportation tasks including planning for Elective Vehicle (EV) charging equipment deployments and assisting units in the region with their applications for the Federal Lands Access Program (FLAP) funding. In addition, she will move her planning projects from her initial fellowship (2020-2022 at Parker River NWR) to implementation including transportation safety improvements and community connections.

USFWS Northeast Region Office and John Heinz NWR – Taylor Long, Feb. 2022 – Feb. 2023

In this advanced fellowship placement, Taylor will assist the USFWS Northeast Region Office with transportation tasks including planning for Elective Vehicle (EV) charging equipment deployments and assisting units in the region with their applications for the Federal Lands Access Program (FLAP) funding. In addition, she will continue the work she accomplished from 2020-2022 at John Heinz NWR including alternative transportation projects and community outreach.

USFWS Southeastern Regional Office – Tommy Egland, March 2022-March 2023

In this advanced fellowship placement, Tommy served as the interim Regional Transportation Coordinator (RTC) for the Southeastern Regional Office. The primary tasks included the administration of the Federal Lands Transportation Program (FLTP), assisting units with their applications and administration of the Federal Lands Access Program (FLAP) and Emergency Relief for Federally Owned Roads (ERFO) program, and lastly helping to close out the most recent roads and trail inventories in the region.
